Farida Talaat, a multidisciplinary artist at the heart of textiles

Farida Talaat is a French-Canadian artist and designer based in Dubai. Her work spans a diverse range of mediums, from painting and embroidery to fashion and interior design. What sets her apart is her exceptional ability to combine abstract ideas with physical materials, creating timeless and unique pieces.

With a background in haute couture, her love for textiles is evident in her geometric and abstract creations. Farida’s portfolio includes quilts, quilted clothing, accessories, and fabric-based wall art. She masterfully blends traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, turning textiles into what she describes as “tactile paintings.”

Inspired by her travels, from Vancouver to Sydney, her work often explores themes of migration and movement. Committed to sustainability, Farida’s creations have been showcased in international exhibitions, and her work has been selected for the Canadian pavilion at COP28 in Dubai.

Born in Toronto, Farida now resides in Dubai, where her pieces are sold online, at pop-up markets, and in boutiques across the UAE and beyond.
