Paris, February 2025 – The United Arab Emirates has announced a major investment in France, with the ambition to establish the largest data center dedicated to artificial intelligence in Europe.
Estimated between €30 and €50 billion, the project marks a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between Paris and Abu Dhabi, positioning France at the forefront of Europe’s tech landscape.
The upcoming AI-focused campus will include a data center with a capacity of up to one gigawatt, serving as the backbone of an ecosystem dedicated to technological innovation and advanced AI solutions.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit, held in Paris on February 10–11, 2025, bringing together heads of state, policymakers, and global experts.
A project led by MGX and a Franco-Emirati consortium
The project’s funding will be led by MGX, an Emirati investment fund specialized in artificial intelligence and backed by the Abu Dhabi government. Already behind the $500 billion Stargate mega-project in the United States, MGX is continuing its strategy of deploying AI infrastructure on a global scale.
The French campus will be developed by a consortium of Franco-Emirati partners, strengthening economic and technological ties between the two nations.
A strategic lever for France and Europe
This investment positions France as a leading AI hub in Europe, capable of competing with global tech powerhouses.
With 35 pre-identified sites for future data centers and a national energy mix largely based on nuclear power, France offers a key advantage: a stable and low-carbon energy supply, critical for powering such energy-intensive infrastructure.
In parallel, the French government plans to train 100,000 young professionals per year in AI-related fields to support the sector’s rapid growth.
